Presentation

The GDR SYMBIOSE and the Interreg FLOWER project jointly organise a scientific event in Nantes on 24th, 25th and 26th April 2019.

The GDR CNRS/INRA SYMBIOSE (SYnthons et Matériaux BIOSourcés - Synthons and Biobased materials) aims at promoting the exchanges between French laboratories working on the biobased materials sector. The approach is to address the questions of raw materials complexity, chemical functionalisation of the biobased molecules, transformation processes and the study of materials functionalities.

For its part, the FLOWER project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the European cross-border cooperation Programme INTERREG VA France (Channel) England. This French-English partnership is composed of 4 academics and 4 industrials with the objective to develop a new range of flax reinforcements for the biocomposites industry.

 Thematics:

Wednesday, 24th April (pm) - SYMBIOSE: Biobased synthons chemistry, Biopolymers fonctionnalisation and characterisation

Thursday, 25th April - Joint Day FLOWER-SYMBIOSE: Diversity and specificities of both biobased polymers and plant fibres for targeted applications

Friday, 26th April - SYMBIOSE: Physico-chemisty and functionnalities of bio-based materials

Objectives

The organisation of these common days has a twofold aim:

  • On the first hand, the idea is to bring together scientific communities having mutual concerns about cell walls knowledge, relation between structureand performances of these walls and research of application solutions.

  • On the other hand, the respective contribution of these two groups and the exchanges expected should enable the emergence of issues as well as interdisciplinary and extended topics for the attendees.
